THE STORY BEHIND BLUE BENCH WOODWORKING...

In the corner of my workshop sits a little blue bench. Despite the flurry of activity in the shop, the bench never gets moved. Nearly every day one of my six precious children perches on the bench to chatter about a discovery, question me on a million different topics, or ask if I want help with my work. My wife rests on the bench for a moment to fill me in on her day as a busy mother. Good friends stop by and sit on the bench to chat – or to ask if they can borrow a tool! Over the years, that blue bench has come to symbolize time with family, friends and the familiarity of my favorite things. Woodworking is not a job for me – it's a love, an art, and a skill developed over time.

Blue Bench Woodworking is all about the highest quality workmanship. This does keep our customers happy – but it also keeps my family happy because we use the same furniture that I build for your family. And we expect our furniture to last year after year after year – so that is how we build it for you.

BUILT TO LAST FOR GENERATIONS.

Maple and Walnut twin over full bunk bed.

Using contrasting woods - maple and walnut - gives these twin/full custom bunk beds a striking appearance.

Note the unique design of the ladder -- the custom styled hooks that attach the ladder to the upper bunk provide added stability.  The wedged mortises are another attractive custom designed feature which give an additional element of stability while adding an eyecatching design component.

All of the furniture at Blue Bench Woodworking is built exactly to our customer's specifications.  Nothing is pre-built or "in stock".

See our "Portfolio" page for more details on this recently completed custom furniture project.

GENERAL CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR NEW BUTCHER BLOCK ISLAND

1.  Periodically (at least once a month) apply an even coat of butcher block oil.  This food grade oil will protect the surface and make it last even longer.

2.  Never allow moisture to stand on the block for lengthy periods of time.

3.  For best results, avoid cutting in the same place every time you use it.  Distribute the wear evenly.

4.  Avoid using harsh chemicals on the block surface.  Regularly scraping the surface after use, washing with soap and water and drying with an absorbent towel will ensure many years of use with your custom butcher block island from Blue Bench Woodworking.
